We are pleased to announce that the MeTCJAP has successfully reached another milestone in its pending application for membership in the International Association of Judges (IAJ).

Last month, the Presidential Council of the IAJ decided to recommend to the Central Council the approval of MeTCJAP’s membership application. The Central Council shall meet next year to act on this favorable recommendation. It is our hope that, by then, the MeTCJAP will earn the approval of the Central Council and shall be accepted in the oldest and most prestigious international organization of judges.

We thank the Supreme Court of the Philippines headed by Chief Justice Diosdado M. Peralta, the Office of the Court Administrator, the Philippine Judicial Academy, the Judicial and Bar Council, the Integrated Bar of the Philippines, and the Free Legal Assistance Group for their unwavering support and guidance.

We are likewise grateful to DOJ Secretary Menardo I. Guevarra, now retired Supreme Court Justices Antonio T. Carpio and Noel G. Tijam, Chancellor Adolfo S. Azcuna, Court Administrator Jose Midas P. Marquez, JBC Member Toribio E. Ilao, Jr., Atty. Domingo Egon O. Cayosa, and Atty. Jose Manuel Icasiano Diokno for meeting with IAJ rapporteur Justice Tsogt Tsend, Judge of Administrative Court of Appeals of Mongolia, and for providing insights regarding the Philippine judicial independence under the current political set-up.

We acknowledge the contributions of the IAJ rapporteurs, Justice Tsogt Tsend and Judge Sabine Matejka, and the President of the ANAO Group, Allyson Duncan, for allowing us to reach this far.

Finally, we thank our MeTCJAP members for their continued support. Rest assured that MeTCJAP will continue to be in the frontier of groundbreaking judicial reforms and advancement.
